My name is Dmitry. I’ve spent my whole life in music. My journey began in Russia at the age of nine, where I started studying piano and later graduated from Music College with a degree in Music Theory. This academic foundation gave me a profound understanding of harmony, acoustics, and the structural integrity of the instrument.

Inspired by a True Master

My technical foundation was shaped by my mentor, Andrey Makarin — a legendary piano professor and concert pianist. After a long and distinguished teaching career, he transitioned into piano technology upon his retirement.

Following in his footsteps, I carry that same philosophy. With over 30 years of experience, I combine the precision of a technician with the soul of a performer. Challenges never scared me; they inspired me. Whether it's a routine tune-up or breathing life back into a century-old Steinway, I handle every instrument with meticulous, artist-level care.

Where It All Began

In 1995, I took my first job as a piano technician — right there at the same music school where my own path into music had started. This photo was taken in 1996, during my very first year on the job, already tuning and maintaining the instruments that students and teachers relied on every day.

Years later, in 2016, my path came full circle: I found myself working as a piano technician at the very same Music College where I had once studied. Caring for the instruments in the halls where I once sat as a student was a deeply meaningful experience.

Working at the College carried a very real weight of responsibility. The instruments were in near-constant use — often 10 to 12 hours a day — and many of them were already elderly. I regularly worked on pre-war German pianos from the 1930s and post-war German instruments from the 1950s, both demanding frequent, careful attention just to stay playable.

The concert grand pianos on the main stage bore the heaviest load of all. When renowned pianists arrived to give solo recitals, the instrument's tuning could shift noticeably over the course of a single half of the program. During the intermission — just 10 to 15 minutes — I had to work quickly to bring the piano back into proper shape before the second half began.

A New Chapter in Texas

I recently moved to America because I believe in the values this country stands for: freedom, democracy, and peace. Having turned my back on dictatorship and war, I am thrilled to start this new chapter in a land that prizes the individual. I am proud to call Farmersville my home and look forward to connecting with the local musical community.

Based in Farmersville, I provide expert services across all of Texas and neighboring states. While I am your local technician, I frequently travel statewide for specialized restoration projects that require a high level of expertise.

Beyond Tuning: A Life in Sound Recording

Music has never been just the piano for me. Alongside my career as a technician, I have spent decades in professional audio recording. In Russia, I owned and operated my own recording studio, where I produced a significant body of work — solo vocalists and choral ensembles, children's choirs, solo instrumentalists, chamber groups, and rock bands all recorded under my roof.

Today, living in Texas, I don't yet have a permanent studio — but I bring the studio to you.
